Forget the shape of the current cars, and there specs!

If there was to be a brand new top spec version of the zs (whatever that car may be based on?- RDX60 maybe!?)- what spec do we feel it would need to have- to able to cut it with the current generation of hot hatch backery!????

Me personally i think it would need to be something like:-

2.0/2.5ltr 4-6 cyl, prob turbocharged.
6 speed manual tranny.
250-300bhp.
0-60 in 6 sec or less.
Top speed of 150mph +.
A weight of 1300kgs max.
FWD with LSD, or 4wd.
300mm+ 4-6 pot front brakes.
280mm twin pot rears.
Reclining bucket seats.
climate cont.
ABS/EBD
sat-nav
cd-mp3 headunit with i-pod link
18"+ alloys.
Xenons/projector headlamps.
No more than £25k.

And most importantly - a well sorted chassis!:D

Obviously that's just a basic spec, but that's around the kinda spec i think a new zs would need to be able to cut it- or be class leader with it's rivals!

Not gone silly with the spec on toys or driver aides- as it would still want to be more of a focused drivers car imo!

What do we think?

Any glaring omissions?

If it's a turbo, a 4 pot, 2 litre lump would be ok. Plenty of those around with 300-400 bhp.

Interesting about the LSD... we've been asked about fitting an LSD (or ATB to be more precise) to a ZS 180. They guy has already had an ITG panel filter, Janspeed manifolds and sports cat. :D

I seem to remember a guy on the old Xpower board having a quaiffe LSD fitted to his ZS180 around 4/5 years ago.

The only 2.0ltr turbo with a lsd fitted is the megane 230 f1 sport.

I recon that all that spec that Harb's as put together could be sold for less than 19k have a look at the new civic prices, but if you loose the sat nav and say xenons and it could be 17k.

Its not Wak - he's just got the Janspeed duplex back box. We tried to sell him the sports cat, but he wouldn't be tempted! The guy that's asked about the ATB is a local yokel that doesn't visit the forums (as far as I know).

Actually, this was the second enquiry about an ATB. The first one was for an F. The cost of fitting the ATB put the guy off, though.

You all have forgot something. The 600kg of extra safety kit that all other manufacturers are adding to their cars.
