Well we started the ball rolling earlier today with regards both MG's going to be replaced by one family non fuel hungry beast,i have in the past month or so banded around a few new car's as possable's but we have settled on a little jap number with a great reputation for reliabilty and a great resale value,a few of you maybe supprised by our choice it's a Honda Jazz sport yes it's no V6 but what is the point of all that power if you can't use it and when you can it cost's an arm and a leg to fuel it up,it's time for us to slow down an try and save some cash.

Been and signed today for the Jazz and we will be picking it up on wednesday, very high spec it's got everything and more for a good price and better resale than any other car in it's class.

both MG's going to be replaced by one beast, it's a Honda Jazz sport
I am amazed that you have managed to seriously and with a straight face put the words 'beast' and Honda Jazz into the same sentance ! I hope it isn't in pensioner pink and does the 'sport' tag refer to lawn green bowls ??!!! hahaha !! ;)

Mat you cheeky monkey it's vivid blue pearl not much different to trophy blue and is fully spoilered up,no bowl's club membership offered, only we won't see you back for warrenty work on this car ;),it's all down to money now Mat and we just could'nt keep filling both car's at the rate we are doing so we had to do the sensible thing and get rid.
We are going to miss the 180 like mad i know that for a fact but i could'nt just leave it parked in the garage for summer time driving,it's been a good servant to us with very little problems and was worth the money when we bought it but we all must move on,and our time is now if in the future i find a 180 for sale at the right money and i can justify buying it i will as it's a good car .

Cars aren't investments.
The UK road system is a mess, so why waste dosh on expensive road cars?
A toy for trackdays or posing is OK, if you can justify it. Bur with 20% rises in domestic fuel costs and all the other necessities - why bother!
I can see Byrons reasoning!

Here is our latest car in it's glory outside the honda dealer,it is a pre reg'd model with only 50miles on the clock so we have had a bit of a deal :).

I hope you keep in touch and don't lose 'The Faith'(MG's).

Gaz i will still be a big part on this forum for aslong as i'm welcome and wanted :D,it's just got to the stage that the 180 is 5 year old in april and getting on a bit,the TF on the other hand helped me get out of my system of owning one i won't buy another anytime soon,if nanjing/siac can produce a world beater in the civic/focus segment then i/we would certaintly have a damn good look but i ain't holding my breath.
P.S may see you at the cotswold MG meet;)
:shout: Byron your always welcome. :)

jazz has a great reputation here....only criticism is the ride is a bit choppy, but our roads are rougher. Having said that I would find it hard to step down from my 180 75 to a Jazz. Room shouldn't be a problem though...the Jazz seating layout is brilliant. Good luck with the purchase.

Well both MG's are now history and i would be lying if i said i was'nt going to miss the 180, as i pulled into the dealership Jane was already there with the 180 and i had a feeling inside of what am i doing (that was the devil) but common sence has prevailed over the past couple of month's,all i will say at present is this no rattles or creaking from any part of the Jazz which was unheard of with the MG's but that was the charicter of the longbridge build:),only time will tell if we are going to be able to live with this little Honda but first impression's are very good.

Well it has happened we have reached the end of the road with the jazz it was just not us,very good car but we are not getting the mpg figures honda claim around town or on a run dissappointed to be honest,so we have looked at two replacements for it but we have to make sure it fit's in the garage, after driving a diesel yesterday it is likely we will be replacing it with a bmw 118d sport good ride lively engine and it had a feel of british-ness to it both myself and jane thought,so it would seem i have gone a full circle in less than six months i did nearly go for a mk2 180 but that would have not made any sence at all great car but long in the tooth now,i/we did look for a 1 series before going for the jazz but could'nt find one at the right price with the right sort of miles on it and i may have a great deal on it as we are hopefully buying it from the dealer i now work for .

Byron - I'm shocked (joke).:D Max loves these cars and we have thought about a Diesel version. I don't like the look of it - but its a sensible purchase and it DRIVES very well. Good luck.
Oh and if its second hand buy its a really good buy. Expensive new and reasonable second hand, and all with BMW build quality.
NB: Does look good BTW!

Nice choice, superior to the nanna-Jazz ! ;)

My sister has one, not too keen on it myself but it drives very well indeed. I like the little over engineered bits like lights under every handle, lol. Much better than the Jazz
p.s how are you finding the key. I still cant get used to pushing a button instead of turning a key. Think its a bit of gimmic myself

Well i had a cracking deal on it from the dealer i'm now working for,it's not new but second hand on a 55 plate with just 27k on the clock so not even run in it,i'm going to eat my word's know as i said like many other's i would nver own a bmw after what happened to mgr but time has moved on and so have alot of people, jane made the first comment about the handling and ride it sticks to the road better than the ZS and i have got to agree with her.

Well it is rear wheel drive Byron so i would rather hope BMW's efforts in making a compact RWD hatch would pay off against an FWD car !
As for the BMW hatred thing, i got over that one years ago - i felt like XPF was brain washing me into thinking that way so i went out and test drove an M3 and it changed my view forever. I would now sacrifice a testicle to own an M3 - not my testicle you understand, probably a mates ! :D

Matt we should have bought this car 4 months ago instead of the jazz but i got there in the end,but there is a down side to owning such a car pricks who want to damage it i knew there was a mark on the front and rear bumpers, but some brainless tosser has taken it on themselves to be an artist on the drivers wing so it's going in tomorrow to see if it will polish out,but other than that it's a good choice of car.

Get used to not being let out of junctions too ! Oh i can't wait to get an M3 and all the joys that accompany it !
Good to here you like the Car Byron. What color did you buy?
I just had an interesting going on getting a new 4X4. Saw it said would have it.
Went to collect it yesterday and did not like the goings on a big dealer with what I thought had underhanded dealings.
Anyway on arrival I needed to sort out finance. I had arranged to have my own plate fitted sorted with insurance sent over my retention docs but when I got there this had not been done, ask why oh it was bought Pre Reg to the garage. Not to my knowing it was meant to be me as first owner.
Then we do finance bit all they wanted was to sell Gap insurance and was not until I got short and said NO I DONT WANT GAP INSURANCE did they understand.
Before signing I wanted to go out to look at the vehicle you can do that. When you signed and then go off and have a look sorry want to look before I sign for anything so off I went as I walked around there were by the back wing great big scratches in the paint work to which I said, sorry not accepting this 4x4 so out with the polish still was visible. Oh you can bring it back next week and let the paint shop sort it, sorry I am not buying a brand new car and having to go back and also not aware you had pre Reg it. So then the Sales man got really aggressive with his tone with me. I decided I would leave with no 4x4 very disappointed but the whole thing made me feel uneasy from start to finish. I guess most females would been pressured into this sale.

Max, that is a terrible story. You must be very dissapointed.:(

From what i gather, the worst form of customer service comes from Korean manufacturers (salesmen need to meet targets more than any others) and Vauxhall. As i never plan on buying anything that falls in those brackets, i hope i don't ever experiance the ignorance Max had dished out.
Thanks guys
Still feeling upset by it all and it was VW outlet. and your right I asked why the Head Sales had stressed and as you said end of the months targets but I say thats no excuse.
Spoke to insurance company this morning to get all docs put back to what it was and explaind why and he said you should write to Head of VW I know I should but really after having house move and Jerry now gone for 2mths I really can't be bothered.

Mat funnily enough the Sorento we had from Kernahans was fine.
BTW guys - Gary - Mat - Byron - appreciate your support. Makes the boss feel more assured she made the right decision.
This was a Toureg from VW. What griped me were the lies. Pleased that the boss didn't accept it too.
We NEVER knew it was pre-registered - they still led us to believe we would be buying a new car and our plate would go on it.
Secondly, the finance. Initially we said NO, he then said we could do a great deal but you need to borrow £9k over 4 years. So we said YES, turns out the Truth was it 3 years and it wasn't great it was 9.0% APR. So not cheap finance at all.
All of the above I could have lived with - but the damaged paintwork NO, especially on a £40k car (discounted to 35).
The plan was to go down to 1 vehicle as I'm in the USA for 6 months. So still have a Focus and the 335D! May look at something much cheaper when we get the time.

Well that is disgusting for a main dealer to act at least you had the sence to walk away max,the bmw we have got is black but some nice person as already taken a shine to it and scratched the wing so i'm going to have to get it into a body shop but other than that we love it.

Hi everyone, running your vehicle on gas is always an increasing cost, but there is a way that can be more profitable than this. Now you can easily use a system that allows you to convert your fuel costs to save huge amounts of running your vehicle. You can learn to build a simple inexpensive device, attach it to a vehicle's engine and convert that vehicle into a
water-burning hybrid (http://www.hydrotechcar.com/).
