I have a fault with my 05 zs180 alarm system. All was working ok until yesterday when after parking the car up at work and locking car as usual with the key fob the alarm went off after 20 secs.It kept doing this everytime whether it was locked using the key fob or the key itself . Has anyone experienced this fault?

Is it a MK1 or MK2 ZS as i have heard of this problem on the MK2's and IIRC it has something to do with the alarm sounder filling with water which is located below the battery.

Tootall, the zs is a mk2 and over the last 2 wks we have had alot of rain and flooded roads up here.On the day the fault appeared the car had 2-3 inches of snow on it as well. I,ll check out the alarm sounder, thanks for your help.

The alarm on my mk 2 zs 180 is fixed and it turned out to be an easy fix.I removed the battery and battery tray but the alarm sounder was nowhere to be seen, then the alarm went off again obviously on some back up power.I also had been told it could be located next to the wiper motor and it sounded like that area of the car but the alarm is that loud it was hard to tell, after removing wiper blade arms and alot of dodgy clips it wasn,t there either.I eventually found it under the expansion tank which when found only took 1 min to remove.I found water comming out of it when i turned it upside down.4 screws seperate it revealling a small circuit board,I sprayed it with some electrical cleaner ,dried it off and reassembled,(i put a little silocone sealer around the base of the connecter as there is no seal there and water could enter here), fitted to car and OK.The hardest bit was finding the damn thing'I don,t know if all models are the same but it is a cheap and simple repair worth trying before sending it to a garage who might replace the whole unit...
