Hi all

I am new here. I have a MG ZT 160. Unfortunately, I think the clutch went last night but not sure if it is the clutch or not.

Symptoms were low power, high revs to get it going. Now it can start it but can move it slightly at very high revs in first.

Was told by a specialist that it could be the cylinder or master cylinder or clutch plate. Worst can scenario is that I may have to all 3 replace because of the high mileage of the car (99000mls), which could mean £1000.

Does this sound right?

thanks

For all 3 that sounds right.

Why not get an independent check? If its only one of them it there could be a real finacial saving and its unlikely that all 3 will need replacing.

I would have thought its either the clutch OR the hydraulics (master cylinder - slave cylinder).

Ok thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it.

Do you know of a breakdown / pick up service that would be able to fetch my car from my house and deliver it to a particular garage?

not sure what part of the country you are but you are best trying to find an ex mgr dealer as alot of garages don't like touching the ZT/75 i don't why as it's an easy car to work on.

From experience, replace all 3 items. £700 is the going rate for a backstreet-style garage.

If you live around the Kent area then try EMS :)
