HI,

I'm looking to buying a MG TF 1.8 or a MGZS 120+ 1.8

First of all I need some advice on the TF. I love the looks for them and they are defiently a lovely summer car, but I have read an awful lot of bad reviews on them, and as I like the look of them so much I thought to ask people in the forum.

How reliable are MGTF's, I need a car which is reliable as I drove long distance for work...I've had a rover cabriolet and it was very unrelaible:(, so I was a bit put off, but it was nearly 10 years older than the car i'm looking to get now?

Also I've read the reviews on the ZS and they have very impresive reviews...i love the looks but i would love to have a 2 seater sports convertible!!!

Any suggestions anyone???? Cheers

I've owned my TF from new(2003) and have loved every minute.
The only problems I have had is 1 x Nearside Rear Wheel Bearing, 1 x Nearside Window Motor, 1 x Nearside Central locking Motor and 4 New tyres.
For a car that is 5 years old I think that is good going.

Take a read of this, I hope it helps:-

Having had a TF135 and a ZS120 I'd tend towards the ZS if it was the only car that I had regular access to. If there is another car in the household that has 4 seats then the TF should prove very entertaining.

No major problems with either of ours. The TF did feel a little 'wallowy' at first but we had X Power springs fitted which transformed the handling.

I think Johns right - the TF is a good second car. Remember the MGF when launched was over fetching a premium at £20k. So the market thought it a great car 12 years ago.

Find a good one and you will enjoy it. Also, recommend yo buy a high spec one as later on in life MGR were deleting items to save on production costs.

The best place to buy a MG is your local brancjh of the local MGOC.

I own a TF and a ZS...

They are both great cars in their own way, and both could be your only car. Both cars have been very reliable, and an F before them, and I would gladly have either on it's own - *but* if I had to make the choice...

Go for the TF (unless 2 seats are not enough) - I doubt you will regret it.
