Might go and take over the FWD stand to advertise our show. LOL

SV and SV-R cars are more than welcome at MG Saloon Day. Ralph's was "Car of the Show" last year.

Patrick

Always been well worth the journey. Even two years ago when it really threw it down on the sunday.

Excuse my frazzled mind but why is it so close after LM?? even last year the Lola had not had time for a clean....I remember the downpour boy did it rain a couple of years ago..

Be cool for a forum display somewhere in the main Area, I wonder what happened to the inflatable Xpower tunnel? Saturday is a good day and a great event to camp at with the family..

Ian.

Roster through and I can do this - don't know which day? But will do one day over the weekend - probably Saturday - Sunday (BTCC - Oulton).

Take a tent and do the full weekend. Those that only stay for the day miss the party atmosphere at night.

One day is enough Norman (not drinking these days). Think it'll be Sunday.

If I can get the metro there will take it too (but unlikely) at this stage.

So what's the general view of the ASBO TF? :D Is it worth shelling out real money for?

Personally, I liked it - if the price is right it will sell.

14-15k max

It does look the part but i would have to see it in the flesh to give judgement, the price 14-15k sound's about right but that would have to be fully loaded.

I thought the changes looked good, although a little disapointed with the paintwork and some of the bodywork gaps(between bonnet and front).
I'm just relieved that MG's are going to be back in production in some form.:)

£15K seems to be a very quoted figure (along with £12K)
I must admit, it must be very fully loaded to be worth £15,000 (I assume not £15,999?), as we all know what with the PVS scheme (and dealer discounts) the 'old' MG Rover TFs were being sold for less than this.

The car on show had a Hardtop as standard. This car in the old days would have been nearer £20k.

Above all it must be £15k and not discounted. The PDS didn't do anyone any favours.

What NAC needs is real buyers and not those like us full of wind telling them how to do it.

SV's - the phantom SV's.

I believe 2 more turned up on Sunday. I think they were worried the rain would melt the Carbon Fibre. :D

I have it on reliable authority that carbon fibre is water soluble. :biglaugha:

Similar to the Sunstorm Special Edition then, via dealer discounts and the PDS the 135s were going around for £15,800, so I'd say your estimate of £14,000-£15,000 sounds fair (oddly I never noticed how much the scheme prices varied - it looks like Jan-March 2004 was the 'cheapest' time to buy a TF - at only £12,832.60 for a 115)

The PDS didn't do anyone any favours.
Agreed. MGR got far too carried away with that and discounts to some dealers. 25% off list price is just insane.

Better not wash it then :D

Too true,

The trouble was those who recieved the discount thought they were privileged and still thought their cars were worth more money than they bought them for if the sold them. All that had happened was the market pace dictated this was the new price.

It was only 10 years ago that these cars commanded a premium and now with 25% discount the market place thought they were now expensive.

Sas - just hope the new company has more sense.

From the NAC MG website.

The number of people pausing to drink in the looks of the stunning new MG TF last weekend was a good measure of the enthusiasm with which the market will greet the new car later this year.

Elegantly displayed on an octagonal stand mirroring the MG logo, the eye-catching vibrant orange coloured vehicle was the talking point of many visitors to the 57th annual MG Car Club gathering at Silverstone.

A slow start on the waterlogged Friday soon gave way to throngs of crowds weaving their way in amongst over 500 shining examples of MG history, culminating in the pre-production TF LE 500; a classic of the future!

During its first public outing the TF was stroked, examined, photographed, talked about and admired by no less than 7,000 people and over 5,000 copies of the new brochure were handed out by members of the Longbridge team. Questions from the enthusiastic public came thick and fast as people enquired about all aspects of the new car and couples opened preliminary negotiations on whether they should be the first to place a TF order.

For those of you who are asking the same question on availability, we say this; consultations for dealer representation are nearing conclusion around the UK. Prospective franchise holders represent a mix of businesses that previously held the franchise and newcomers to the marque. By the time the vehicle is launched in autumn, we hope to have a network of approximately 40 businesses to support our vehicle owners and this will quickly build over the following months. Geographically, the prospective businesses are neatly spread out but there has been notably strong interest from the Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, Southern Central counties and Wales as well as overseas enquiries from South Africa, New Zealand, Holland and ex British colonies.

Crowds of fans were also treated to the NAC sponsored Trophy races for the TF and MGZR. This was the first time the MG manufacturer has supported the Car Club event in this way and Richard Ji, Managing Director at Longbridge who presented the winning trophies commented on the exceptional spirit of competition throughout the racing. In his speech Mr Ji thanked the public for their support of the marque and spoke of NAC’s guardianship of the brand and commitment to a successful launch.

Commenting on the event, guests to the stand were enthusiastic about the new car and many were surprised to hear it is going to be built at Longbridge. The ‘vibrant orange’ colour of the display model certainly got the car noticed, so just to confirm to those who enquired, there are 5 other colours in the LE range, you don’t have to order one in orange!

The next event to see the new MG TF will be the Birmingham Jazz Festival on July 13th and 14th.
